In order to locate books about each president, I am going to add links to different book lists as I find them on the internet.

A great list of books about first ladies (which I probably should also read)

George Washington
We moved to Washington, DC about a year ago and I realized my knowledge of history is pitiful! I have decided to improve my knowledge and read at least one book about each president. Hopefully I can finish this quest before we move again! I just finished the first one, "His Excellency: George Washington" by Joseph J. Ellis.
I usually read entire books in one sitting and I am a fan of novels, especially romance. I had to read this book in 15 minute increments and I admit I really couldn't stand much more than that. It took me three months to read this book. It not a bad book at all, I just wasn't that interested. I wish they had put maps in this book like they do in those fantasy sci fi books of made up worlds. It would have been useful to see where New York and Virginia are actually located. Pictures might have even been nice. The good thing is that I now have a general overview of Washington's life and hopefully as I read a few more books about people who lived in the same time frame there will be some layering and expanding of my knowledge.
